Lara Zelski

Principal, Elementary Campus
 

Lara Zelski has been at ANCS since 2007. Previously, she worked at the Howard School and taught art, Spanish, reading and math. She taught 6th, 4th, and 2nd in DeKalb County. She taught 4th and 5th grade in Decatur and then moved to Title One reading and math instruction for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. She taught 5th grade at the ANCS elementary campus for two years. She then became the school’s Curriculum and Assessment Specialist and served in that role for two years before being named principal of the elementary campus in 2011.

For Ms. Zelski, the best part of working at ANCS is the community. “Everyone here is invested in doing what is best for our students and the school. Working with the outstanding teachers and staff brings me tremendous joy as well.”

When she is not at school, Ms. Zelski loves camping and hiking, and being outdoors. She also enjoys running, baking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Ms. Zelski has a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Agnes Scott College where she also received her Elementary Education certification. She has her Master’s in Reading and Literacy from Walden University, her Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Capella University and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. Ms. Zelski’s area of expertise is leading teachers in understanding and developing age-appropriate curriculum in their classrooms.
