Governing Board of Directors

The Governing Board consists of nine (9) members, each serving three (3) year terms*. Each year, one-third of the board members ends his/her term so that there is continuity in the governance, as well as new membership. Members are elected by the ANCS Board of Directors from nominations made by the ANCS Board’s Nominating Committee. An affirmative vote of two-thirds of the Directors shall be required for election. Governing Board member terms begin July 1 of the year in which they were appointed. In addition to the nine voting members, there are ex officio (non-voting) members of the Governing Board: the Executive Director and the Principals of ANCS’ elementary and middle school campuses. Please see the bylaws for further information.

*Note that during the initial years after the merger, Governing Board members were appointed by the chairs of the NCS and ACMS Boards to one-, two-, and three-year terms so that terms could begin to be staggered. Following the expiration of these assigned terms, Board members serve the normal three-year term. There were designated three (3) classes of board members, composed of one-third of the board.

  • Class A: first term is one year (2010-11), followed by three-year terms,
  • Class B: first term is two years (2011-12), followed by three-year terms, and
  • Class C: first term is three years (2012-13), followed by three-year terms.
