Katie Derichsweiler received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a Minor in Child Development from California State University, Chico. This is also where she completed her teaching credentials, with a specialization in cross-cultural language and academic development. Her areas of expertise include literacy, especially reading.

Ms. Derichsweiler has been a teacher for seventeen years with nine of those years at ANCS. Prior to joining the ANCS school family, she taught 5th grade at an international school in Amsterdam, The Netherlands for six years. She has also taught 4th grade in Fayette County, Georgia.

Ms. Derichsweiler’s hobbies include running, CrossFit, cooking, baking sourdough bread, traveling and gardening. She enjoys outdoor activities with her husband and dogs such as camping and hiking. Being outdoors has been an important part of her life, because she grew up helping her family with their olive ranch in California. On rainy days, her favorite indoor games include shooting pool, tossing darts in the basement game room, card games and Yahtzee.
