After School Care at Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School offers students and engaging, safe and enriching environment every afternoon. The After School Program begins at dismissal each day (3:15 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 1:45 on Wednesday), and ends promptly at 6:00. We are coordinated and staffed by Associate Teachers, Lead Teachers, and interns. Time is scheduled every day for home enrichment activities, snack, recess, engaging workshops, games and community building.
ENRICHMENT CLASSES will be offered as a part of After School this year. There will be three, eight-week sessions: September 10 to November 9, December 3 to February 8, and March 4 to May 3.
After School is available to all students. Please take the time to complete the online registration form so that if the need arises, After School has your contact and pick up authorization information. Please note: Students not picked up at dismissal are signed in to After School at 3:15. Students who have been signed out early may not be checked in to After School after dismissal.
After School is self-sustaining, and operates on a “pay as you go” basis.
The cost of the after school program is $75.00 /week or $15.00/day. Each additional child is $8.00 a day.
The cost for Wednesday will remain the same, however, students who are picked up by 3:15, will only be charged $7.50.
A discount price of $12.00/day ($19.00/ 2 children) is offered for payment of the full year(180 days), in advance. (One student – $2160, two Students – $3420) Payment must be received by August 31, 2018.
A limited number of scholarships are available. Please request an application, if needed.
Checks, cash, credit/debit cards, and money orders may be used for payment for the after school program.
Payment of After School Program is the responsibility of the parent/guardian. Payments are due on the Friday prior to the week of attendance. Balances in excess of two weeks’ tuition may result in a student not being allowed to attend the after school program.
If an emergency arises and a child needs to participate in the after school program for a day, the parent / legal guardian needs to notify the teacher of that situation. Payment for the day is due the day of attendance.
Each day, students participate in a brief community meeting among their grade level/ group peers. This is an opportunity for students to share personal news or cur- rent events as well as compliments/ concerns, thanks/ sorry messages. This also serves as a venue for students to problem solve in appropriate and constructive ways as a community.
Students have 30 to 40 minutes of “Home Enrichment” time every day. This is a time for students to complete homework assignments, read silently or listen to a read aloud, write silently or complete a math activity.
Students attend a one-hour workshop each day. Our focus will be different each day. Along with a 30-minute outdoor recess, there will be lots of fun outdoor games and activities. Fridays are reserved for popcorn and a movie.
WHY AFTER SCHOOL? After School Care can have far-reaching benefits. Though not always immediately evident, the benefits for students include increased learning, improved health, and enhanced social and psychological development. Students who attend
after school programs have increased achievement in math, reading, and other academic subjects, increased commitment to schooling and a subsequent development of higher aspirations.
