Long-Term Substitute Teacher (3rd grade)

Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School (ANCS) is seeking dynamic and motivated educators to implement and support instruction and assessment practices for a diverse group of students. This position will work collaboratively with the co-teacher to develop and support an exceptional learning environment for students.

This long-term substitute position is expected to be for the end of November through mid-March and is for a 3rd grade co-taught classroom. The position involves the following primary responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the co-teacher to create a student-centered, constructivist curriculum to support the third grade standards
  • Implement instruction and assessment practices for a diverse group of students
  • Demonstrate sound classroom management skills and embrace differentiated instructional approaches to learning
  • Build and maintain relationships with students
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of school colleagues, parents, community members and others to support and implement the goals of the school
  • Participate fully in faculty and school related meetings
  • Work flexible hours as needed; Other duties as assigned

Reports to:
Directly to Elementary Campus Principal


  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required;
  • Completion of a teacher preparation program and/or degree in education related field and/or Georgia teacher certification preferred

Qualification and Experience:

The experience and qualifications preferred for this position include:

  • Experience with teaching elementary school-age students
  • Curriculum development knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of integrated and experiential learning
  • Ability to collaborate well with other teachers in development and implementation of curriculum
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse groups of students, teachers, and families
  • Familiarity with constructivism
