Long-Term Substitute Teacher – 6th/7th Individuals and Societies Special Education

Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School works to build an empowered and inclusive community of students, parents, and educators. ANCS is looking for dedicated and experienced special education teachers that are committed to improving outcomes for struggling students with the belief of inclusive practices.

This long-term substitute position is expected to be for September 29th through November 17th and is for a 6th and 7th grade Individuals and Societies (Social Studies) Special Education co-teacher. The position involves the following primary responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively to create Specially Designed Instruction to support the objectives within students’ IEPs within the content area of Individuals & Societies
  • Implement instruction and assessment practices designed to support students with disabilities
  • Demonstrate sound classroom management skills and embrace differentiated instructional approaches to learning
  • Build and maintain relationships with students
  • Facilitate an advisory class focused on developing skills within the whole-child
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of school colleagues, parents, community members and others to support and implement the goals of the school
  • Participate fully in faculty and school related meetings
  • Work flexible hours as needed; Other duties as assigned

Reports to:
Directly to Middle Campus Principal

Education:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required;
  • Completion of a teacher preparation program and/or degree in education related field and/or Georgia special education teacher certification preferred

Experience:
The experience and qualifications preferred for this position include:

  • International Baccalaureate MYP teaching experience preferred
  • Experience in teaching Social Studies/Individuals & Societies
  • Curriculum development knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of integrated and experiential learning
  • Ability to collaborate well with other teachers in development and implementation of curriculum
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse groups of students, teachers, and families
  • Experience working with middle school-aged students
  • Special Education teaching background

Calendar:
191-day employee

Commensurate with education and experience
