Associate Teacher (Grades 6-8)
Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School’s (ANCS) Middle Campus is an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP). World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that ANCS believes is important for our middle grades students. Our students take classes in eight academic subject areas that focus on conceptual understanding and essential skills. These eight subject areas are: Arts, Design, Health and Physical Education, Individuals and Societies, Language and Literature, Spanish Language Acquisition, Mathematics, and Sciences.
Position Responsibilities:
The position of Associate Teacher (Grades 6-8) at Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School (ANCS) involves the following primary responsibilities:
- Assist Teachers in implementing and supporting instruction and assessment practices for a diverse group of students including students with IEPs or 504s
- Establish a strong working partnership with Lead Teacher and effectively utilize this relationship to develop an exceptional learning environment for students; strong communication skills a must
- Familiarize yourself with daily lesson plans to support implementation in the classroom
- Provide academic and behavioral supports for students
- Collect data on student behavior and academic progress as needed
- Assume lead in the classroom when the lead teacher is out
- Operational duties including recess duty, lunch duty, dismissal, after school support, etc.
- Serving as a substitute lead teacher elsewhere in the building on an as-needed basis
- Work collaboratively with a diverse group of school colleagues, parents, community members and others to support and implement the goals of the school
- Participate fully in faculty and school-related meetings
- Work flexible hours as needed
Reports to:
Directly to Middle Campus Principal
Education/Certification:
- Minimum of a high school diploma required
Qualifications and Experience:
The experience and qualifications preferred for this position include:
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school-aged students
- Experience supporting students with a variety of needs preferred
- Ability to collaborate well with other teachers
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse groups of students, teachers, and families
