BIPOC Parent/Caregiver Listening Circle

September 20, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

The first element of our mission is to build an empowered and inclusive community of students, parents, and educators. This pursuit is central to everything we do, and it is reflected in our classrooms, our hiring practices, our parent/caregiver engagement, and our outreach efforts.

Following up on the successful renewal of our charter, we are launching a comprehensive effort to strengthen, hone and further energize our diversity, equity, and inclusion work. We have engaged a consulting firm, Culture Education Collective, to support us in this endeavor. They will convene a series of listening circles with students, parents/caregivers and faculty/staff to provide an opportunity to express thoughts, feelings, and perspectives about your experiences specifically around diversity, equity and inclusion at our school.

These listening circles – held virtually – will be an opportunity for dialogue, listening, storytelling, and sharing. The sessions will not be recorded, and everything you share will remain confidential. We will use the input from the listening circles to provide recommendations and insight into our strategic plan. Each session is limited to 25 participants. More sessions will be added if necessary.

One of our norms is to offer the opportunity for conversations like these to occur in affinity groups. As such, one listening circle will be established for parents/caregivers of color. It will take place on Monday, September 20: 6:00-7:15. Register by clicking this link.
