Sarah Hutchins

1st Grade Teacher

Sarah earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Education in Early Childhood Education with an ESOL endorsement at Georgia State University. She recently completed her student-teaching (practicum) in the 2020-2021 school year and is eager to start her first year of teaching at ANCS. During her degree work, she had the privilege to teach in Gwinnett, Dekalb and Atlanta school districts. Sarah’s education and internships have given her extensive and varied experiences with a socioeconomically diverse population of learners with a wide range of skill levels. Prior to college, she has enjoyed a lifetime of working with children through tutoring, mentoring or volunteering.

Her dedication to becoming a critically conscious, compassionate, and skilled educator has pushed her to pursue a master’s in school counseling. With this degree, Sarah intends to help children grow their social emotional skills inside and outside of the school walls. She has shared a marriage and friendship of 31 years with her husband, Michael. They have co-parented two grown children, a daughter, Rebekah (28) and a son, Miyka’el (23). When she is not teaching, Sarah enjoys spending time with her cat, family, going to live concerts(pre-Covid), all things music, and being a plant mom.
