EC Principal Letter
Dear ANCS Elementary Families,
I hope you are having a good week so far. We are enjoying the fourth week of school, in spite of the excessive heat. As you have seen from Dr. Pullen’s emails, we are keeping students inside the building when the heat index is unsafe for outdoor activity. I know this is disappointing for many of our students. We explain to them that safety is our number one priority and indoor recess can be fun. Please help us by reiterating this message at home.
Please see my last week’s courier letter for information about our upcoming Curriculum Night. Curriculum Night is next Wednesday, August 30th, from 4:15 to 6:30. Our after school program closes at 4:00 that evening to ensure all classrooms are available for the evening. We are offering free childcare for all those who have pre-registered. Childcare is now full. We hope to see you at Curriculum Night. Below is the schedule for the evening.
- 4:15-5:00 Related Arts and support services in auditorium
- 5:00-5:45 classroom session one
- 5:45-6:30 classroom session two
I am also excited to announce that we are bringing back our Parent University! Parent University is a way for you to learn more about what our curriculum is, how we approach academics and student discipline and ways that we can build the home-school connection and develop our partnership. The first session will be September 12th right after morning meeting in the cafeteria. This first session will focus on the Science of Reading and how ANCS’s curriculum addresses the many components of this approach to teaching reading. This session will be led by our wonderful instructional coaches, Veleta Greer (K-2) & Lesley Michaels (3-5), along with our amazing K-1 Academic Assistance teacher, Brooke McGhee. We hope that you will be able to join us. We will record the informational part of the session and have it available afterwards.
As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Have a wonderful remainder of your week.
Wishing you well,
Lara
