Dear ANCS Elementary Families,
Today our school family celebrated the Lunar New Year, which begins tomorrow, Saturday, February 10th. We started the day in morning meeting with Ms. Chen sharing what the Lunar New Year is and why it is celebrated. Then our third, fourth and fifth graders enjoyed a Lunar New Year performance in the morning and finally our whole school will participate in a Dragon Parade through the building this afternoon. Thanks to everyone for wearing red today in honor of the New Year and many thanks to our art teacher, Julie Griffith, for helping our students create special crafts to display during the parade.
During our morning meeting this week we have been talking about how each of us has a responsibility to help keep our school family safe through our words and actions. Students were able to offer many choices that they make daily that help keep us safe at school. As we move closer to the February break, it is common to see an uptick in student rowdiness and misbehavior. Please take some time to reiterate with your child at home the importance of making safe and helpful choices here at school. We appreciate your partnership with this.
I do want to inform you that we have seen high numbers of illness at the elementary campus. There are many things going around, including flu and Covid. You know that we always want our students here at school to participate in all the learning opportunities made available to them each day. However, if your child is sick, please keep them at home until they are better. Yesterday we had 14 faculty/staff members and 29 students out sick. Please help us keep these numbers down.
As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
I am wishing you well,
