EC Principal Letter

Dear ANCS Elementary Families,

I hope you had a meaningful and peaceful MLK holiday weekend. This week we will continue to reflect on the work of Dr. King. Our mindful moment this week is centered around a quote from Dr. King, “The time is always right to do what’s right.” Ask your child what this quote means to them.

We have a celebrations committee here at the EC and they, along with our new DE&I co directors, are working on our Black History Month celebration, which we will begin in February and extend into March. I will be sharing more about what we will be doing in school and ways that you can extend learning at home in my upcoming courier letters. So, be on the lookout for that.

Beginning next week, students in 4th and 5th grade will begin entering and exiting the building through the front main doors of the school. We will no longer be using the Pavillion Street entrance. This decision was made in an effort to alleviate the traffic congestion on Pavillion and to begin to return to some of our pre-Covid routines. Additionally, it eliminates having three doors to the school open each morning, which will support our security efforts. Our kindergarteners and first graders will continue to enter the building at the library side doors.

Finally, just a friendly reminder about Walk Your Student To Class days. Please see my last courier letter for full details, but the dates are as follows:

  • Tuesday, January 31 – Denson/Johnson, Lance/Turton, Newton/Collins, Sulmers/German, Hage/Lobban, Derichsweiler/Woods
  • Wednesday, February 1 – Tomlinson/Morgan, Morris/Morales, Arrington/Dietz, Agadoni/Stewart, Conners/Wade, Douglas/Wright
  • Thursday, February 2 – Sattler/Berney, Kellum/Maland, Lawrence/Attwooll, Taylor/Smith
  • Friday, February 3 – Rockmore/Holmes, Armstead/Godicheau, Love/Price/Chen

I hope you have a wonderful remainder of your week. As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Wishing you well,

Lara
