Elementary Principal Letter

Dear ANCS elementary families,

I can’t believe that we only have five and a half weeks of school left this year. We have a lot to accomplish before the end of the school year, so please keep those bedtime and morning routines consistent!

We have enjoyed having folks coming into the building to walk their students to their classroom. I hope that you have enjoyed this as well. We still have two more days this week and the following classes are able to participate.

  • Thursday, April 21st – Sattler/Berney, Kellum/Maland, Lawrence/Smith, Taylor/Smith
  • Friday, April 22nd – Walbert/Denson, Armstead/Godicheau, Love/Coyne

We invite you to stop by the cafeteria to check out the lost and found while you are in the building. We have quite a large collection of items (we have run out of hangers!). We will also bring the lost and found items outside for the last Third Friday Coffee on May 20th. Even if coffee isn’t your thing, stop by to enjoy some time visiting with others and check to see if your child has anything in the lost and found. All items that remain in the lost and found will be donated on May 31st.

Just a reminder that on April 29th we will have our Book Character Parade. We are so excited that we get to bring this fun tradition back! We would love for you to join us from 1:15 to 2:15. Each class will be dressed up as characters from a book they have read together and then march through the halls and around the school so everyone can see their costumes and have some fun. Parents and guests will view the parade on the front lawn and on the sidewalks around the school. We hope you can make it for this exciting afternoon.

Once May rolls around, our third, fourth and fifth graders will be engaged in taking the Milestones state assessment from the 2nd to the 13th. All students will be busy preparing for their portfolio shares (look for specifics from your child’s teachers), enjoying a modified field day (grades 3-5 on the 16th and K-2 on the 23rd) and visiting the book fair from the 17th to the 20th. Our fifth graders will have an in-person celebration on May 25th on the backyard of the middle campus and everyone will be preparing for ways to celebrate all the learning and community building that happened over the course of this year. Please stay tuned for more specific information on all of these things. I just wanted to give you all a heads up that this is all coming up and will be here quickly.

As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Have a wonderful remainder of your week.

Wishing you well,

Lara
