Elementary Principal Letter

Dear ANCS elementary families,

Wow! Our book character parade last Friday was amazing! My heart was so full at the end of the day and my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. Our school family needed that more than we knew. Thank you to those of you who were able to make it and cheered for the students as they paraded around the school. As one of our fourth graders reached the front door and saw all of you, he said, “Wow! This is the best day of my life.”  We continue to be a strong and supportive wolf pack!

Milestones testing is happening this week for our third and fifth graders. Fourth grade begins testing next week. So far, this is going very smoothly. If your child is testing, please make sure they get a good night’s sleep and arrive at school on time. Thank you for your support with this.

We are excited to have the opportunity to have portfolio shares be in-person again. You should have received information from your child’s teachers regarding date and time. If you are unable to attend your child’s portfolio share, please let the teachers know. We really want every student to have an adult present to help them celebrate all their hard work and growth over the course of this school year. If you are unable to attend, we will work to find an adult here at school who can celebrate with your child.

As mentioned in an earlier courier, May is a very busy time of the year here at school. We try to keep routines as normal as possible with all the extra events and activities happening. It is very helpful if you can also keep your evening and morning routines as consistent as possible. We know that things that seem small to us as adults can feel really big to children. The brain is pattern seeking and now more than ever our students need a sense of predictability in their life.

As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Wishing you well,
