Dear ANCS elementary families,
We are really in the home stretch now! It’s hard to believe that we are only a week and a half away to the last day of school. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders enjoyed field day on Monday and kindergarten, first and fourth graders have their portfolio shares this week. It is a time to celebrate all the learning and growth that has happened over the course of this school year. Students are proud of their accomplishments, as they should be!
This Friday third grader, Hadley Griffith will be the principal for the day. You may see her opening car doors in the morning and dismissing students in the afternoon. We have a full day planned with meetings, observations and running a school. If you would like to email Principal Griffith, you can do so at firstname.lastname@example.org. I am sure she would love to hear from you!
We will be celebrating our fifth graders next Wednesday evening at the Maynard Jackson High School auditorium. This is very exciting because the past couple of years we have not been able to have an in-person celebration due to Covid. However, with the increase in Covid numbers at school and in the community we are limiting attendance to students and their immediate family. Please wish our fifth graders well (from a distance) as they embark on their journey across the park to the middle campus next year.
This Friday is our last Third Friday Coffee of the year. Many thanks to our PTCA for hosting these throughout the year. You can get to the coffee by entering the gate by the farm on Grant St. Thanks to Coach Daniel and Mrs. Paez, the lost and found will be brought outside so you can look through it and bring home the items that belong to you. Please stop by and take a look even if you don’t drink coffee! All items not claimed will be donated on the last day of school.
Finally, just a quick reminder that dismissal will be at 11:30 on the last day of school. A sack lunch will be provided before the end of the day to students who sign up for lunch. There is no after school on the last day of school, so please plan accordingly. All students will be either a walker or car rider (please have your dismissal number ready). Please let your child’s teachers know if someone new will be picking up your child from school or if their regular dismissal plans will be different.
As always, please reach out with any questions you may have.
Wishing you well,
