Elementary Principal Letter

Dear ANCS Elementary Families,

A big shout out goes to ANCS music teacher, Mrs. Wawerna, for creating and directing such a fun and  beautiful Winter Wonderland night last week. The weather definitely made us nervous, but in the end, it turned out just right. Mostly, it was heartwarming to have our whole school family together to celebrate the joy music brings to our lives. I am always blown away at how well our students perform. A special thanks goes to Coach Daniel, Mrs. Paez, Ms. Shelley and Ms. Keller who supported Mrs. Wawerna with rehearsals and all the backstage details. Also, hats off  to parent volunteer Rebecca Fuller, who was there with all her amazing ideas and support through the entire process. Bravo!

We are all looking forward to our school-wide pajama/comfy clothes day this Friday. We made it clear to everyone that if you don’t have pajamas that are appropriate for school, just wear your comfy clothes. Nobody needs to go out and buy new pajamas! It’s just a fun way for us to have a shared experience here at school.

All the lost and found items are located in our cafeteria. We will donate all remaining items at the end of the day Thursday, December 15th. We are encouraging students to take some time to look through the missing jackets, sweaters, shirts, hats, lunchboxes, etc. at some point this week.  If you have time, you are also welcome to  look through the items yourself.

Once we get back to school, your child’s 18-Week Progress Report will be sent home via email on Monday, January 2nd. As a reminder, this report is part of our holistic reporting system, and is designed to operate in conjunction with parent conferences and the end-of-the-year report card. This report is intentionally called a Progress Report because we understand that students are continually growing and developing over the course of a school year. The progress report provides a picture of where a student’s understanding of grade level standards is at this point in the school year. There is no formal parent-teacher conference required for this marking period, but, as always, if you have questions, you should reach out to your child’s teachers. We will have our next conference window beginning February 20th.

Remember that this Friday dismissal is from 11:30 to 11:45 and there is no after school care. I hope you have a wonderful remainder of your week and a peaceful holiday break!

Wishing you well,

Lara
