Letter from Cathey Goodgame – April 15, 2015

Dear ANCS Families and Friends,

We’ve returned to school this week at the middle campus, fresh from Spring Break and ready to conquer the last six weeks of the school year! We started Milestones testing today for all students and continue prep work for the upcoming Student Portfolio Exhibitions. Eighth grade students will present their work April 30 – May 6 and 6th and 7th grade presentations will be during the week of May 11th. We look forward to seeing many of you in the building as our students proudly share their growth from this school year.

After a busy week back at school, this weekend has a lot in store for our school family as well. On Friday night, our baseball team will play in the league championship, weather permitting, at 5:30pm. Come out to Medlock Park to cheer on the baseball wolves! Be sure to check the league website before heading that way to confirm that the game is still on. Mother Nature isn’t planning to cooperate with us very much this week for outside events.

Saturday morning runners and walkers will be up and at it early for the Fourth Annual Run with the Wolves. The 5k event begins at 8:15am at the middle campus and the 1 mile event begins at 9:00am. More information can be found at http://ancs2016.wpengine.com/5k/ and https://www.facebook.com/ANCSRunWithTheWolves. We hope to see you out on Saturday morning, rain or shine, to benefit our school through this fun Annual Campaign-sponsored event.

Saturday evening, after you’ve dried off from the rainy morning run/walk, you can support the arts by attending the opening night of Disney’s High School Musical 2 Jr.

The gang is back for an action-packed summer extravaganza as Troy, Gabriella and the rest of the Wildcats finish junior year and blast onto the summer scene. At the Lava Springs Country Club, popular-girl Sharpay reigns supreme while the Wildcats get to work – literally! Featuring every ounce of the light-hearted fun that made High School Musical a household name, this buoyant sequel follows our East High favorites as they face the realities of the adult world and begin to grow up. Friendships are tested, summer romances go haywire, and the meaning of success is redefined.

The show will go on at the Elementary Campus at 7pm on Saturday, April 18, Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26. The suggested donation of $4 will support the Middle Campus Drama Club. Concession sales will go to the 8th grade Washington DC Trip fund.

Wishing you well,
