Letter from Cathey Goodgame – May 16, 2018

Dear ANCS Families and Friends,

This week we’re without most of our “seniors” as they are visiting Washington, DC on their culminating ANCS trip. From all reports, things are going well, they are having a good time, and maybe they are even learning a thing or two about our Nation’s Capital. While the 8th graders are away the 6th and 7th graders are presenting their Exhibitions and are wrapping up their final classwork and assessments for the year.

Next Wednesday is a busy day at ANCS as we begin with our annual Talent Show happening during Morning Meeting, beginning at 8:30am. Once the Talent Show concludes, advisories will head out for their final Extended Advisory activities of this year. Finally, we’ll honor the 8th graders at the 8th Grade Celebration. The celebration will be held at the MJHS Auditorium at 7:30pm and this year will be preceded by the ANCS 5th grade Celebration, also at MJHS, at 5:30pm. We look forward to saying goodbye to our 8th graders and getting a sneak peek at our rising 6th graders for next year.

It’s hard to believe that a week from tomorrow, Thursday, May 24, is our last day of school for the 2017-18 school year. Our day will be consumed with Field Day activities organized by our wonderful Student Council. The day will end with a noon dismissal and there is no After Care on that day so please be sure that your child knows the plan for that early dismissal.

Finally, year end grade reports are expected to be in ManageBac sometime after noon on Friday, May 25. If you are the parent/guardian of a Middle Campus student you should have received an email from me yesterday about promotion criteria and how that works and you will receive another one next week reminding you how to access the reports as well as an FAQ about how to interpret the reports. If you haven’t logged into ManageBac this year (or have forgotten how) contact Somer Hobby at shobby@atlncs.org and she will be happy to help you out.

Wishing you well,

Cathey
