Dear ANCS Families and Friends,
I hope each of you had a lovely Thanksgiving last week. I’m grateful to have spent most of the week with family and friends, appreciating the gift of time with my loved ones. We’ve quickly moved back in our normal routine here at the Middle Campus, which is nice given how busy the next 4 weeks will undoubtedly be.
Our Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) drive begins this week on both campuses and I talked to the kids about the purpose of the drive and the most needed items during Morning Meeting today. Last year at the middle campus we collected enough for 450 meals and our goal is to exceed that this year. The most needed items this year for the ACFB drive are listed below. Thank you in advance for sending items in through Friday, December 14 to support our greater community.
Most needed food items:
Canned vegetables; low sodium or no sodium added
Canned tuna, chicken, or salmon; in water
Canned or dried beans, peas, or lentils; low sodium
Canned or dried fruits; in juice or water
Whole grain pasta and flour
Brown rice, barley, quinoa
Whole grain cereal
Shelf-stable milk; dairy, soy, rice, etc
100% fruit or vegetable juice
Natural peanut butter; plastic containers only
Olive or canola oil; plastic containers only
Most needed non-food items:
Diapers; any size
Feminine hygiene products
Speaking of donations, thank you to all of the families who donated to our Thanksgiving Baskets before the break. With the help of all of you we were able to make baskets for 30 ANCS families. Special thanks goes to Kristy O’Connor and Bojangles for donating the turkeys for our families.
Finally, I hope you will join us this weekend as the ANCSdrama cast and crew present Bad Ideas for Bad Television Shows. Shows will be on both Friday and Saturday at the middle campus and will start at 7:00pm each night. Donations are requested at the door and all proceeds from admission and concessions go to support the 8th grade DC Trip Scholarship Fund. We look forward to seeing you for a show!
Wishing you well,
