Letter from Cathey Goodgame – September 18, 2019

Dear ANCS Families and Friends,

The first annual ANCS Kickball Tournament was a huge success! Thanks to the PTCA board for brainstorming this new idea and making it happen for our school community. The buzz around school is all positive and the kids are already strategizing about their teams for next year. Congratulations to Team Straight Ballin’, captained by Nura Goodson and Aleah Clemmons, for bringing home the championship trophy!

Another thank you goes to PTCA for providing a new monitor for each campus to highlight upcoming events and celebrations. At the Middle Campus the monitor is just above the gym doors in the entryway and the scrolling information includes things like upcoming Athletics events, upcoming family meetings, and even the week’s lunch menu. Many students have commented on how helpful it is so we are especially grateful for the addition.

Speaking of Athletics, the Cross Country boys took first place overall in their meet on Saturday behind strong finishes by Jacob (2nd), Branch (3rd), Alejandro (9th) and Cisco (10th). Go Wolves! All of the runners, both boys and girls, had great showings with many of them clocking in at personal best times. The next Cross Country meet is Saturday as the team participates in the Aubrae Gunderson Invitational at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers. The boys will run at 10:20 am and the girls at 10:30 am.

The Flag Football Wolves fell in a close one on Saturday and will take the field again, looking for another win, this Friday. They will take on Chattahoochee Hills at 7:15 pm at Badgett Stadium. The Ultimate Wolves are also in action this week. As this letter goes to press on Tuesday afternoon they were playing at Waldorf and they will be playing in a tournament this Saturday at Rockdale County Sports Complex in Conyers from 10 am until 4 pm.

Finally, individual student picture day is happening at the Middle Campus on Tuesday, September 24. Pictures will happen by grade level during the first couple of classes of the day, with the hope to get it all done early so they can play hard at recess! Every child will have a picture taken that day for the yearbook and information will follow via email about how to order pictures if you choose to do so. There will also be a makeup opportunity for anyone absent next Tuesday. We’ll communicate directly with any absent students about that.

Wishing you well,
