Letter from EC Principal
Dear ANCS Elementary Families,
I hope you are having a wonderful week so far and that you all enjoyed your mid-winter break. Now that we are back, we are in the last quarter of this school year. It is an exciting time of year, and a busy time, as well. As a reminder, next week students in grades 1st-5th will be taking the CogAT. It is also our spring book fair with all the fun activities that go along with that – Family Reding Night on Wednesday, March 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 and then our annual Book Character Parade on Friday, March 6th.
Family Reading NIght is a fun evening for the whole family to come and enjoy lots of activities centered around reading and literacy. This is not a time to drop your child(ren) off at school without a parent/guardian. Then the Book Character Parade on Friday is from 1:40 to 2:25. We hope that you will be able to join us for all of these events. Each class will be dressed up as characters from a book they have read together and then parade through the halls and around the school so all the students can see their costumes and have some fun. Parents and guests will view the parade on the front lawn and on the sidewalks around the school. Please leave the sidewalks clear so students have room to walk around the building. Students will be coming through the front doors around 1:55(ish). Please cheer and celebrate the students as they parade! This really is such a fun week of celebrating reading!
We are all excited about our Black History celebration on Friday. We will have a morning show for just our students and faculty and then we will have an evening show that will begin at 6:00 PM in our auditorium for our families. I hope you can join us, as it will be a very special event. Our students and teachers have worked really hard to make it a great evening.
By this time you should have signed up for your spring parent-teacher conference. We hope that you find your conference time informative and productive. We recognize that 30 minutes isn’t always enough time to discuss everything, but we believe that having time to talk over the conference guide and set goals together is an important part of developing a partnership that supports student growth and learning. Thank you for taking the time to meet with your child’s teachers and remember that if you ever have questions or concerns, you are free to contact them anytime. If you have not set a date for your conference, please take care of that as soon as you are able.
As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your ongoing support of our school.
Wishing you well,
Lara
