Letter from EC Principal

Dear ANCS Elementary Families,

I hope you are having a wonderful week so far. I have just dropped my youngest off at college! It seems like just yesterday that she was a kindergartener here at ANCS. Time really does fly by, so love every minute you have with your little ones – they are precious.

Our Curriculum Night is coming up on August 26th from 5:00-6:00 in the evening. Like last year, curriculum night will be virtual. Unlike last year, it will be live rather than recorded and sent out to families. In a “normal” year, we offer two 45-minute classroom sessions and a 30-minute related arts & supportive services session. This year we will have two 25-minute virtual classroom sessions with a five minute break in between sessions. The reason we have two sessions is because we have families that have students in more than one grade level. Here is the schedule:

  • 5:00-5:25 – Session one
  • 5:25-5:30 – Break
  • 5:30-5:55 – Session two

The purpose of curriculum night is to provide families with a brief overview of what content is taught over the course of the year. Teachers will share expectations for the year and address what measures are being taken to address the effects of Covid. Curriculum Night is not a time to have a one-on-one conference or to address questions about your individual student. Be on the lookout for more information from your child’s teachers about how to join one of the sessions.

I want to remind you that our school day begins at 8:00 sharp on Tuesdays – Fridays and at 9:30 sharp on Mondays. If you arrive after the 30 minute arrival window of 7:30-8:00 on T-F and 9:00-9:30 on Mondays, you will need to park your car, walk your student into the building and sign him/her in at the front desk. Do not just drop your child in the front of the building and have them walk in on their own. Additionally, please do not drop your child off in front of school before the drop off windows begin, as there is nobody available to supervise them.

We love seeing everyone in the morning and appreciate that it’s a great time to catch up with friends and neighbors. We are asking that you keep the sidewalks in front of the school and by the drop off line as clear as possible. They are getting very congested and it’s dangerous for our little ones to try to navigate. We don’t want anyone having to step off the sidewalk to get by a group standing and talking. We always want to keep clear paths for our students. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

As always, I am happy to answer any questions. Have a wonderful remainder of your week!
