Letter from Elementary Principal

Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I am excited to get back to a somewhat normal year and to have all our students joining us each day beginning on August 3rd! We do, however, have to remember that we are still operating in dynamic times in a pandemic and the safety of our students, faculty & staff and community is at the top of our mind as we prepare for this year. This is why we are planning for a blended model of virtual and in-person events. As you are planning and getting ready for the school year, get these dates on your calendar.

Wednesday, July 28th: Open House (virtual)
This is for parents/guardians. Teachers will send a welcome email to you and in it will be a link for you to join them for an “open house.” This is a time for teachers to introduce themselves and tell a little bit about what to expect the first six weeks of school. This is also a time for interested parents/guardians to sign up to be a room parent. Here are the times for each grade level.

  • Kindergarten: 1:00pm -1:15pm
  • 1st Grade: 1:20pm -1:35pm
  • 2nd Grade: 1:40pm -1:55pm
  • 3rd Grade: 2:00pm – 2:15pm
  • 4th Grade: 2:20pm – 2:35pm
  • 5th Grade: 2:40pm – 2:55pm

Thursday, July 29th & Friday, July 30th: Individual Meet & Greets (blended)
This is for students. Teachers will send a sign up for your child to meet with them for about 10 minutes. This is a way for students and teachers to get to know each other a little bit before the first day of school. All students returning to ANCS will meet with their teachers via Zoom. Students who are new to ANCS will have the option to come into the building to see the classroom and meet their teachers. Kindergarten students who came to the school for the kindergarten round up will meet with their teachers via Zoom. Kindergarten students who were unable to come to the round up will have the option to come into the building to meet teachers and see the room.

Tuesday, August 3rd: First day of school! (in-person)
I will send a lot of information about arrival and dismissal procedures in my letter next week. So, be on the lookout for that on Wednesday. I can’t wait to see everyone soon. We have been busy over this summer getting ready to welcome our full student body back into the building and I know it is going to be a great year! As always, feel free to reach out with any questions.

Wishing you well,
Lara
