Letter from Lara Zelski – April 11, 2018

Dear ANCS Families and Friends,

I hope each of you enjoyed your spring break. Students and teachers all seemed to come back energized and ready for the sprint to the end of the year. It really is only seven weeks away and we have a busy schedule from now until then!

A HUGE thank you to Anna Coan and Emily Howland and our wonderful PTCA for making us all feel so appreciated during Teacher Appreciation Week. It was a full week of love and treats and a perfect way to send us all off for a week of relaxation and fun.

The beginning of Georgia Milestones testing is later this year than in years past. The schedule is a similar to last year’s, as not all grades are testing at the same time. If you are a parent or guardian of a student in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade please ensure your student is present and on time each day of testing. I wanted to give you enough time to plan accordingly. Please understand that we are not allowed to have visitors in the building during testing. The general schedule is listed below:

Wednesday, April 25: Writing Grades 3 & 5
Thursday, April 26: ELA Grades 3 & 5
Friday, April 27: Math Grades 3 & 5
Monday, April 30: Science Grade 5, Writing Grade 4
Tuesday, May 1: Social Studies Grade 5, ELA Grade 4
Wednesday, May 2: Math Grade 4
Thursday, May 3: Make-up
Friday, May 4: Make-up

Another part of testing is that student work and instructional materials throughout the building either need to be taken down or covered. We will be looking for volunteers to help with this task on Tuesday, April 24th immediately following morning meeting. If you are willing and able to help us with that, we would love for you to stay for about 30 minutes after morning meeting.

As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Have a wonderful remainder of your week.
