Letter from Lara Zelski – December 11, 2019

Dear ANCS Families and Friends,

We have had a busy few days here at the elementary campus. We are right in the middle of our Winterfest performances and will be enjoying the recap of grade level performances beginning at morning meeting this Friday with fifth grade. Next week, kindergarten will perform on Monday morning, first grade on Tuesday, second grade on Wednesday, third grade on Thursday and fourth grade on Friday. Remember that next Friday, December 20 is an 11:30 am dismissal for students and there will be no after school that day. Please be prepared to pick your child up from school by 11:30 am on that day.

A big shout out goes to our special education coordinator, Ms. Deck, and the special education team, for all their work coordinating events and activities for Inclusive Schools Week last week. We also appreciate the students who shared stories about growing up with a disability and how it felt to be included in school. It was a great week full of lessons we can carry with us throughout the year.

As I mentioned in my last courier, our next curriculum conversation will be about Conscious Discipline. Please join our Conscious Discipline Action Team on Wednesday, December 18th immediately following morning meeting in the cafeteria. We will discuss how Conscious Discipline is used here at school and how you can incorporate the language and skills at home to support positive and long-lasting behavior in our children (and ourselves).

All the lost and found items are located in our cafeteria. We have a plethora of items in the collection! We will donate all remaining items at the end of the day Thursday, December 19th. We are encouraging students to take some time to look through the missing jackets, sweaters, shirts, hats, lunchboxes, etc. at some point this week. You can look through them yourself in the morning before or after morning meeting or at 3:15 pm, directly after dismissal.

As always, I am happy to answer any questions that you may have. Have a wonderful remainder of your week!

I wish you well,
Lara
