Letter from Lara Zelski – February 26, 2020

Dear ANCS Families and Friends,

I hope you are enjoying your week so far. Our mindful moment focus this week is the importance of choosing kind with our thoughts, actions and words. It would be helpful if you could reiterate this at home by asking your child what kind actions he/she did each day. This takes practice and the more we talk about it and model it for our children, the better equipped they will be to make kind and caring choices each day.

This Thursday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, we will host our second and last information session at the elementary campus for prospective families. I am excited that we will have Spanish translation services available for anyone who needs it. We have had great turnouts at our tours and at our previous information session. Please help spread the word in our community.

Our second round of parent-teacher conferences runs through March 16. Please make sure you sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teachers. If the times provided are challenging for you, please reach out to the teachers as soon as possible so you can work together to find a time to discuss your child’s progress.

Mark you calendars for A Parent’s Roadmap to Protecting Their Children in the Digital World with private investigator and social justice advocate, Melissa Straub. This event will take place from 6:30 – 8:00 pm on March 25 at the Elementary Campus. This is a parent-only event. Students in 3rd – 8th grades will take part in age appropriate student presentations during the day at school. Please stay on the lookout for more information as the date gets closer.

Please remember that we do not open the doors to the building each day until 7:30 am. If you arrive earlier than that, wait with your child until the building is open. Also, it would be great if you could encourage your child to use the pathways to come up to the building. We have many budding flowers on our front yard and it’s hard from them to grow when they are being stepped on each day.

Please come by and look through the lost and found. We have already collected quite a large number of coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, etc. The lost and found is located in the cafeteria and you are welcome to stop by after morning meeting or right after dismissal. It is very helpful for your child’s belongings to be labeled. We will return any items found directly to students if there is a name on them.
