Dear ANCS Families and Friends,
We are hitting the homestretch and our school year together is wrapping up very quickly. I want to thank each of you for supporting your child with schoolwork, getting him/her to class on time dressed and ready for the day, and for the support you have shown our amazing teachers. We have consistently had high attendance for the live sessions across the school and students are getting their work done during independent time. So thank you. Thank you for all you are doing to help make that happen each day!
As mentioned in my video on Monday, the school is ordering summer reading books for all of our students since we are not having our traditional book fair at school. However, we are fortunate to work with Little Shop of Stories again this year to ensure everyone will have an opportunity to order more books to read over the summer. Yay! Be on the lookout for more information about the ANCS online book fair and for ways that you can contribute to the cost of the summer reading books.
Another thing I talked about in my video is that our PTCA has generously offered to order t-shirts for everyone since we will not be getting our traditional field day t-shirts. Families in K-4th grade should have already received an order form so you can select the size shirt your child will need. These are due by Thursday, May 6 at 4:00 pm. Students in 5th grade have received a form from the middle campus so they can select their summer reading book and order their t-shirt at the same time. Parents of 5th graders, you don’t need to take any action with this (except maybe remind your student to complete the form if they haven’t already!).
We will only be collecting computers and school materials from students who are leaving ANCS. This includes all of our 8th graders, but not all of our 5th graders. If your student is in 5th grade and will be going to the middle campus next year, you will keep your computer until we are back in the building together next year. If your student will not be returning to ANCS next year, please be on the lookout for more information about returning your computer and other school materials. This will most likely happen after Memorial Day and we will provide details as soon as possible.
If you have books from the library or your classroom, please return the to school during library hours next week. Those hours are 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Monday and Tuesday. If you are returning classroom books, label them with teacher’s name so we can keep them organized. You should also be receiving information from the classroom teachers about this.
As the school year comes to an end, we will have a lot of information to share with you. Please be extra vigilant with reading the courier and newsletters from your teachers. Please know that we are doing our very best to keep you all informed and to keep communication as succinct as possible. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out. We are here to help you navigate all of this and we know that things can feel a bit overwhelming at times.
