Letter from Lara Zelski – November 6, 2019

Dear ANCS Families and Friends,

I hope you all are enjoying waking up in daylight and feeling like you are sleeping in for an extra hour. After a very busy October full of activities, we definitely all need some rest. But alas, November is here and December is upon us!

I want to give a huge shout out to Tilifayea Griffin, Jessica Shelley, Caroline Berney, Veleta Greer. Kristen German, Nicole Agadoni, Christine Kellum, Ayoka Stewart, Niya Randall, Makisha Rogers and Leslie Jo Tottenham for organizing events during morning meeting throughout Hispanic Heritage Month and planning a fun movie night for all of us to enjoy last Friday. Additional thanks goes to Robert Lupo and Chef Bradley for preparing delicious food for everyone to enjoy before the movie. We had a great turn out and a lot of fun!

What a fantastic day we had to enjoy our annual Fall Festival. A lot of folks came out for the fun and the weather was absolutely beautiful for spending a day outside. Our PTCA did a fantastic job organizing this fun, family-oriented event for our school. From the decorations in the front of the school with a beautiful fall theme to the game, face painting and food, all details were in an effort to make all feel welcome and to have fun. We appreciate all their efforts along with all the folks who gave their time to volunteer at the festival. It is so wonderful to have a family-focused weekend here at school.

We hope you will join us Wednesday, November 20th immediately following morning meeting in the cafeteria for our third Curriculum Conversation. This session is focused on digital life and learning here at the elementary campus. Ms. Rogers, Instructional Technology Specialist, Ms. Shelley, Teacher Librarian, and Ms. Tottenham, School Counselor, will discuss technology in the classroom, digital citizenship, and online safety. We look forward to seeing you there.

I cannot believe that I am saying this, but the holiday season is upon us, believe it or not! Please make sure you have our annual holiday program, Winterfest, on your calendar. It’s going to be here before you know it. All performances will be held at the elementary campus. You will get more information from Mrs. Wawerna at the dates get closer. If you are interested in helping in any way, please reach out to Annette Wawerna.

  • Kindergarten & 1st Grade – Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30 pm
  • 2nd & 3rd Grades – Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30 pm
  • 4th & 5th Grades – Thursday, December 12th at 6:30 pm

Finally, just another reminder that with the weather getting cooler our lost and found is already getting rather full. Please take some time to head down to the cafeteria to look through the rack and shelves. It is also helpful to label your child’s lunchbox, water bottle and clothing. We will return things to students if they are labeled. All items remaining in the lost and found on December 20th will be donated.

As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Have a wonderful remainder of your week.
