Letter from Lara Zelski – November 7, 2018

Dear ANCS Families and Friends,

I hope you all are enjoying waking up in daylight and feeling like you are sleeping in for an extra hour. After a very busy October full of activities, we definitely all need some rest. But alas, November is here and December is upon us!

I want to give a huge shout out to Tilifayea Griffin, Jessica Shelley and Caroline Henry for organizing events during morning meeting throughout Hispanic Heritage Month. Additional thanks goes to Ms. Griffin for putting together movie night and to Chef for preparing food for everyone to enjoy. We had a great turn out and a lot of fun!

What a fantastic day we had to enjoy our annual Fall Festival. A lot of folks came out for the fun and the weather was absolutely beautiful for spending a day outside. Our PTCA did a fantastic job organizing this fun, family-oriented event for our school. From the decorations in the front of the school with a beautiful fall theme to the Battle of the Bands, all details were in an effort to make all feel welcome and to have fun. We appreciate all their efforts along with all the folks who gave their time to volunteer at the festival. It is so wonderful to have a family-focused weekend here at school.

We hope you will join us next Tuesday, November 13, for the Diversity and Equity Action Team Community Information Session. The session will be from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Elementary Campus and will provide attendees with the opportunity to hear about what the team has been doing as well as how to get involved with the work going forward. We look forward to seeing you there.

I cannot believe that I am saying this, but the holiday season is upon us, believe it or not! Please make sure you have our annual holiday program, Winterfest, on your calendar. It’s going to be here before you know it. All performances will be held at the elementary campus. You will get more information from Mrs. Wawerna at the dates get closer.

  • Kindergarten & 1st Grade – Tuesday, December 11th at 6:30 pm
  • 2nd & 3rd Grades – Wednesday, December 12th at 6:30 pm
  • 4th & 5th Grades – Thursday, December 13th at 6:30 pm

Finally, just another reminder that with the weather getting cooler our lost and found is already getting rather full. Please take some time to head down to the cafeteria to look through the rack and shelves. It is also helpful to label your child’s lunchbox, water bottle and clothing. We will return things to students if they are labeled. All items remaining in the lost and found on December 22nd will be donated.

As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Have a wonderful remainder of your week.
