Letter from MC Assistant Principal

Middle Campus Families,

Fall is a time of transition. Leaves are changing colors, clocks “fall back” this weekend, and the weather is getting a little colder. We are finishing up our fall sports schedules (football, cheer, cross country, ultimate frisbee, volleyball) and beginning our winter sports practices (basketball, cheer).

Congratulations to all the teams, but I want to highlight the volleyball team specifically. Our girls have wanted to have volleyball at ANCS for a couple years now, and we thank Mrs. Hinton for stepping up to the plate and helping to make it happen. Seeing our young women step up to the challenge of learning what was a new sport for many, stepping up to the challenge of earning playing time, and generally working hard was an awesome thing to see. These students persevered through challenges and developed tremendously as volleyball players. The difference between the teams that I saw in the first game and the teams I saw at the end of the year tournament was night and day. Thank you again Mrs. Hinton and congratulations to all the members of the volleyball team for a job well done!

Academically, this week our children are transitioning out of the excitement of Halloween back into school. As students prepare for summative assessments in their various classes stress levels can sometimes increase. Sometimes we see this manifest itself in behaviors that we occur at school, sometimes you may notice stress at home. Remind your students to be kind to each other at school, but to also be kind to themselves. It’s important to give grace, as we are all trying our best.

Finally, as the weather does get colder, please encourage your students to dress appropriately for the weather. We will continue to have lunch and recess outside, and as it gets colder it will be important to start putting the shorts away and pulling out the fall jackets. Have a great week!

Kind regards,

Mark
