Letter from Cathey Goodgame – April 29, 2020

Dear ANCS Families,

With less than three weeks left with the students, reality is setting in that another year is coming to a close. We are proud of the great work so many of the students continue to do during HOWL: consistently logging in, actively participating in live sessions, completing quality work and staying engaged as we speed toward the finish line of the year.

As you might imagine, the students have lots of questions about how the year will end and what next year will look like for them. In this ever changing world, we don’t know all of the answers but Mr. Sanders and I shared what we do know at this point with the students and families on Monday morning through videos. If you haven’t had a chance to watch those videos, please go to your child’s grade level page on the HOWL platform to take a look at the videos as well as important information about what is happening this week in classes. The 6th and 7th grade video is the same so you only need to watch that one once if you have children in both grades. The grade level links can be found here: Eighth, Seventh, and Sixth.

We know that providing students with the opportunity to wish friends and teachers well is an important part of the end of every school year and that may be even more important this year. The last day of online classes at the middle campus is Friday, May 15 and Monday, May 18 will be a day of celebrations. You may notice that this schedule is not exactly the same as the Elementary Campus. We have planned our celebrations on different days so that parents and guardians can participate, as appropriate for the activities. Each Advisory will have time together, virtually of course, during the day on Monday, May 18 and we will have our virtual 8th Grade Celebration in the late afternoon/early evening. We’re working on exact times for the days’ events and hope to share more details soon.

Wishing you well,
