Letter from the MC Principal

Middle Campus families,

Exhibitions started this week and it has been wonderful getting to see the students talk about their learning and growth over the course of this very challenging year. Exhibitions continue through next Tuesday and we are wishing each student well as they prepare and present.

Hopefully each of you had a chance to read the grade level emails I sent last Friday providing information about the last two weeks of school. I’m including some of the general information here and hope you’ll let me know if you didn’t receive the more detailed email last week so I can get that to you as quickly as possible.

Monday, May 24 and Tuesday, May 25

    • Final two days of Exhibitions
    • Final A and B Day classes

Wednesday, May 26

    • “Wonderful Wednesday” for the 8th graders, 9:00 – 1:00
      • 8th graders should bring their Chromebook and charger for return unless needed for Thursday’s activities
    • Virtual activities in Advisory for 6th and 7th graders, 9:30 – noon

Thursday, May 27

    • “Art Day” for all grade levels – A virtual “tour” of the High Museum and an art experience led by Mr. Bubes

Friday, May 28

    • “Fabulous Friday” for 8th graders
    • 6th and 7th Graders invited to close the year in person in their Advisory groups, 9:30 – noon
      • 6th and 7th graders should bring their Chromebooks and chargers for return unless they are needed for summer math work. A form will need to be completed by any family choosing to keep the items for the summer.

Wednesday, June 2 – Item Exchange (noon – 7:00 pm)

    • Pick up end-of-year items and return Chromebooks/chargers for anyone who did not do so on May 26 or 28.

As we close out the year, the subject area teachers are grading final assessments and writing narratives, and the advisors are working on scores and feedback for Portfolios and Exhibitions. In the past, we’ve released final reports the week following the last day of school because a significant amount of work goes into each student report. This year our goal is to have those reports available to you on the last day of school, Friday, May 28. This is an ambitious date, to be totally honest, so we’ve set a “rain date” of Tuesday, June 1 just in case. You’ll receive a notification from ManageBac once those reports are ready to be viewed. If you’ve never logged in to ManageBac, or can’t remember how to, this would be a great time to reach out to Somer Hobby (shobby@atlncs.org), our MYP Coordinator and Instructional Coach, to be sure you’re all set to access this important information.

Wishing you well,
