Letter from the MC Principal

Middle Campus Families,

In last week’s Courier I mentioned that we were hoping for an increase in the number of students participating in weekly COVID surveillance testing. I’m excited to report that last Friday we tested about 75% of the students and we have consent to test more than 95% of the middle campus students this Friday. Thank you for helping us keep our school family safe!

Has your middle schooler mentioned the progress in The Backyard, our recess field? It has been tough to start the year without this space for them to play but we are starting to see the light at the end of the construction tunnel. The turf started to go down a few days ago and students in science classrooms are getting a birds-eye view of the pavilion construction. Unfortunately, we still have a few weeks to go so we’re going to have to reschedule an important upcoming event:

Meet the School Family Night is rescheduled to Thursday, September 9, 6:30 – 8:00 pm.

This event is an in-person, outdoor event designed to allow parents and caregivers the opportunity to meet teachers and other members of the Middle Campus team. In next week’s Courier I’ll include information about how to access videos to learn more about your child’s classes. We hope you will spend about 30 minutes viewing each of the videos from your child’s teachers before attending the event.

Finally, remember that each Friday you can read about what’s happening the following week in your child’s classes. Subject area teachers are posting weekly messages in ManageBac and you can access those after 4:00 pm on Fridays. You should have received an email from Somer Hobby last weekend explaining the many options for notifications for these messages as well as other information in ManageBac. If you have any questions please reach out to Ms. Hobby at shobby@atlncs.org and she will be happy to help.

Wishing you well,
