Letter from the MC Principal

Dear Middle Campus Families,

It was great to see so many of you at Meet the School Family last week. We were thrilled that Mother Nature cooperated with us, giving us such a beautiful breezy evening. We’re also happy that families had a chance to see the wonderful renovations to The Backyard. It has been so exciting to see the kids playing out there since the space re-opened just more than a week ago.

If you have driven by school lately, maybe for arrival or dismissal, you may have noticed that our school sign is full of weekly athletics events. We have five teams in season right now so things are really busy! In addition to athletics, the Middle Campus has a long history of engaging club offerings for students. We’re gathering information this week from teachers and staff who are interested in sponsoring a club and we hope to get more information out to the students next week. We already know we have three clubs ready to roll – Art Club, Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA), and HOWL Weekly, our digital student publication – and expect to have a few more offerings by week’s end. Stay tuned for more club information coming soon!

Sixth grade families and 7th/8th new to ANCS should have received an email last week from Somer Hobby about this month’s IB MYP Family Information Session. The first session for this month was last night but it’s not too late to attend if you missed it. There is a second virtual session on Friday at 9:00 am covering the same content. We strongly encourage parents and caregivers of all 6th graders and new 7th/8th graders to attend these sessions. Adults who have attended these sessions in the past have had a significantly deeper understanding of the Middle Campus than those who did not.

Finally, parents and caregivers of 8th graders may have heard your children mention Community Project recently. The students started learning about this culminating 8th grade project a couple of weeks ago and there are sessions coming up at the end of this month for you to learn more about the project. You should have received an email from Somer Hobby this week providing more information about these important sessions on Tuesday, September 28, and Wednesday, September 29 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The same content will be presented at each session. We ask that every 8th grader attends one of these virtual sessions with at least one adult from the household. If you did not receive the email or have any questions about the upcoming sessions please reach out to Somer Hobby at shobby@atlncs.org.

Wishing you well,
