Letter from the MC Principal
Hello MC families,
This morning our 7th graders departed for their overnight trip to Jekyll Island where they will explore coastal habitats with the 4-H club before returning on Friday. We are wishing them a safe and wonderful trip and we look forward to their return!
Door decorating has become a new tradition that adds to our celebration of Black History month. We began with HBCU-themed doors last year and this year Advisories focused on historical figures. Each door has background information about Black historical figures on it, and Advisories were very creative with their displays. Over the next two weeks students will be challenged with looking at the doors and learning as much as they can before testing their knowledge with a KaHoot! quiz during Morning Meeting.
Now that we are transitioning into Women’s History Month I am looking forward to the work that will be put together by our teachers and by the Celebrations Committee.
We are fully transitioning into our Spring sports season as the track team had meets today and on Monday, and soccer and baseball have their first games on Saturday 3/4. Baseball plays at 5 pm at the Carver YMCA (1600 Pryor Rd SW, Atlanta, GA 30315) on Saturday 3/4, Girl’s Soccer is at 10am and Boy’s Soccer is at 11:15 am both at the Corretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy (1190 Northwest Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30318) on Saturday.
Finally, our 8th graders have continued presenting their community projects during Morning Meeting and students have continued to present timely and important information. This past Monday Journey Black presented on “Mental Health & Social Media Overuse,” Finch Underwood presented on “The Dangers of Fentanyl,” and in a previous Courier letter I referenced Ray Caputo’s presentation about art therapy. Each student gave a full presentation on their topic, but they each had resources at the end of their presentations so I have shared those links below for the benefit of our full school family.
As always if you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
Kind regards,
Mark
