Letter from the MC Principal

Hello MC families,

After the completion of a long and thorough process we have selected an Assistant Principal for next year. Dr. Nikia Showers will be moving into that role (that announcement is also in a general Courier post). Dr. Showers comes to us with 20 years of experience in education (8 of which were in the classroom), and she has 10 years of combined experience as an IB coordinator and as a district Literacy Coach. She also is the mother of former ANCS student Kennedy Norman, who recently graduated from Alabama State. Dr. Showers is looking forward to getting started, and I look forward to you all getting an opportunity to meet and work with her. Look for information about a meet and greet in subsequent Courier letters.

Today 6th and 7th grade portfolios are due and students also are completing their MAP testing today as I mentioned in my last Courier letter. Students have had lots of time to work on their Portfolios over the last few months and they were also able to work on them at home. Student Portfolios are a collection of information that students can also use for their Portfolio Exhibitions. Eighth grade Exhibitions start next week. We are wishing our 8th graders good luck and I look forward to them demonstrating their learning growth next week.

On Friday of next week we will celebrate the work that our students have done inside and outside of the classroom with our year end Pep Rally. This Pep Rally will proceed Milestones which will begin on Monday, April 29th. Please encourage your students to get proper rest, eat well, and get to school on time during Milestones so that they can put their best foot forward.

As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Mark
