MC Principal Letter

Hello MC families,

In February of 2019 the ANCS Middle Campus officially became an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) school. Over the course of this year we have been going through the process of Evaluation in which the IB as an organization checks on our progress and evaluates our status as an IB school. We went through a process called self study earlier in the year in which we shared various artifacts like unit planners with the IB and received feedback. On Monday and Tuesday, March 11th and 12th we will have our Evaluation visit in which a small team of people from the IB will visit our school and talk to a select group of students, parents, and staff members in the final stage of the Evaluation process. We are a school that truly focuses on inclusivity and learning from multiple perspectives. As we fulfill the element of our mission regarding “Challeng[ing] each student to take an active role as an informed citizen in a global society” we foster international mindedness amongst our students. Our focus on constructivist learning principles, inquiry, critical thinking, and authentic real-world summative assessment helps develop the critical thinking skills that separate ANCS students from students at other schools. We look forward to showcasing the tremendous work that we do next week.

As a reminder our spring musical Matilda Jr. will go live from Thursday March 14th through Sunday the 17th. Tickets can be purchased here. Best of luck to the cast and crew!

Finally, as a reminder we have an asynchronous learning day on Friday, March 15th. During our asynchronous learning days students will stay home while they do school work. This will be a teacher work day during which teachers will spend the day planning, grading, meeting with teaching partners, generally catching up on work, and working to improve their practice.

The building will be closed to students on March 15th. That Friday is an A day and teachers from student’s A day classes will post assignments in Google Classroom starting at 8:00am that day. Students will also have assignments posted in their Advisory and Power30 Google Classrooms.

As always if you have any questions feel free to reach out.

Kind regards,

Mark
