Reflecting on the First Month of School

Dear School Family:

As we wrap up the first month of school, I have spent many moments reflecting on these past thirty-one days. From observing teachers in their classrooms to greeting students in the morning to working with our Board, I can truly say that we have a passionate team of teachers, parents and administrators who are invested in cultivating a challenging and holistic academic experience for the children we serve. It is an honor to lead this work here at ANCS.

I am proud of what we have accomplished in this first month and look forward to tackling the challenges that lie ahead. The PTCA Task Force is busy collecting data from stakeholders, which will impact their recommendation this fall. Our teachers have established routines with students and are facilitating critical thinking skills at every level. And, not to mention all of our kindergarteners can recite the Wolf Pack Chant! Clearly we have work to do ahead but as I reminded our staff yesterday, we must also take time to acknowledge and celebrate the small victories along the way.

We had a wonderful turn out at Curriculum Night last week at the EC and I look forward to seeing many of you at our Meet the School Family Night at the MC, which will take place on September 7th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. It is a drop-in event in The Backyard at the MC where you will have an opportunity to put faces to names with your students’ teachers and spend a little bit of time with them, as well.

Picture Day is also coming up for both campuses. Students in grades K-2 will have their pictures taken on the 11th and students in grades 3-5 will have their pictures taken on the 12th. Students at the MC will have their pictures taken on the 14th. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your campus principals with any questions about picture day or any other upcoming events.

I look forward to getting to know all of you better and working with you this upcoming year!
