Welcome Letter from Veleta Greer
Dear ANCS Families, Students, and Staff,
As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself as the new Elementary Campus Assistant Principal. I am honored to serve the ANCS community in this role and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
For those who may not know me, I have been part of ANCS for the past 21 years, serving as a classroom teacher and, for the last 11 years, as the Instructional Coach for Kindergarten through Second Grade. During that time, I have had the privilege of working closely with students, teachers, and families to support student learning and strengthen our instructional practices.
As I step into this position, I am grateful for the opportunity to expand my work in support of the elementary campus and to serve on the K–8 Leadership Team. I look forward to partnering with our talented faculty to continue strengthening instruction, working alongside families to support student success, and contributing to the systems and structures that help our school run smoothly each day. Most importantly, I remain committed to ensuring that every student feels seen, supported, valued, and challenged to grow.
As your Elementary Campus Assistant Principal, you can expect me to be a visible and engaged presence in classrooms, hallways, and throughout our community. You can expect me to celebrate great teaching and learning, build strong relationships, listen carefully, and seek feedback so that I can continue learning and growing alongside our students, families, and staff. I will strive to make decisions with students at the center, communicate transparently, set high expectations while providing the support needed to meet them, and acknowledge when adjustments are needed. Above all, I hope to help cultivate a joyful learning environment in which every member of our community feels valued and empowered to contribute their strengths.
On a personal note, my connection to ANCS is deeply meaningful. My husband, Matt, and I have lived in Ormewood Park since 2001, and our son, Dylan, is an ANCS alumnus. This community has shaped not only my professional journey but also our family. From the influence of the Conscious Discipline approach to our shared commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ANCS has played an important role in shaping the Greer family. Along with helping to shape our values, ANCS has given our family some of our deepest relationships. Even now, as a college student, Dylan remains closest to the friends he met here in kindergarten.
As we begin this new school year together, I am filled with gratitude and optimism. I look forward to partnering with each of you as we build upon the strong foundation that makes ANCS such a special place to learn, work, and grow.

Veleta Greer
Veleta Greer joined ANCS in 2005 and currently serves as Assistant Principal at the Elementary Campus. Before joining ANCS, she worked for the DeKalb County School System at Marbut Theme School, where she taught 2nd and 3rd grades and served as an Early Intervention Reading Teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Brenau University (1999) and a Master of Education with a specialization in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University (2003).
