6-8 Arrival & Dismissal Info

Middle Campus Families,

As the first day of school draws nearer, you and your middle schooler may be starting to think about some of the details around morning and afternoon routines. My hope is to share some information here and we look forward to seeing students and parents/caregivers at the upcoming grade-level virtual Meet and Greet information sessions on Monday, August 2 – 6th grade at 10:30, 7th grade at 1:00, and 8th grade at 2:30. The sessions are expected to last 30-45 minutes followed by a 30-minute Advisory session. Until then, we hope the information below helps you begin to make plans for a successful first day of school next Tuesday!

Morning Arrival

SchoolDoc

All students should be screened for symptoms before leaving home each day. The screening information should be entered into SchoolDoc so we know your child’s health status to begin each day. The form MUST be filled out by 9am on Monday and 7:30am Tuesday-Friday. If your student is participating in Early Care, the form must be filled out by 7:30am on Monday. Please contact Leslye Ryan, Middle Campus Nurse, at lryan@atlncs.org if you have any questions about SchoolDoc.

Arrival Times

Mondays – Students enrolled in Early Care may arrive beginning at 8:00 am. All other students may arrive between 9:30 and 9:55 am. Advisory begins at 10:00 am so students will need to allow time to move through the morning checkpoint and be seated in Advisory no later than 10:00 am.

Tuesdays through Fridays – Students may arrive between 8:00 and 8:25 am. Advisory begins at 8:30 am so students will need to allow time to move through the morning checkpoint and be seated in Advisory no later than 8:30 am.

Entrances

  • 6th graders should enter through the main entrance near the school sign.
  • 7th graders should enter through the doors closest to the cafeteria.
  • 8th graders should enter through the doors closest to the media center (through the parking lot).

Students arriving after Advisory has started (10:00 am on Mondays and 8:30 am on all other days) should report to the main entrance near the school sign for late check-in.

Afternoon dismissal

Regular Dismissal

Middle campus students are dismissed at 3:00 pm each day and will walk outside as an Advisory group. Students should know their dismissal plan for the day before arriving at school each morning – walker/biker, car rider, After Care, Athletics, or Office Hours. We will share more information about Athletics and Office Hours in the Meet and Greet information sessions on Monday. Neither option is available during the first week of school so please plan accordingly for those days.

You do not need to let the school know your child’s dismissal plan for the day/week/month but you do need to coordinate the plan directly with your child in advance. If you need to communicate a change to your child’s dismissal plan on a given day we ask that you not text or call them on their cell phones since the expectation is that phones will be turned off during the school day. We can help facilitate occasional dismissal changes by contacting the main office at 678-904-0051.

Early Dismissal

If you need to check your child out of school early please come to the main entrance near the school sign, have your ID available, and allow enough time for your child to wrap up in class before leaving. We ask that no student check-outs happen between 2:30 and 3:00 in order to provide a smooth end of the regular school day for both the students and teachers.

Again, we look forward to seeing you on Monday for the grade-level virtual Meet and Greet sessions and are excited for the start to a great school year with your children!

Wishing you well,

Cathey
