This year’s ANCS Run with the Wolves 5K and 1 mile races will be taking place virtually and you can log your time at any point between May 1 and May 16–check out this link for all the details.
With so much flexibility in when and where you run this year, it’s the perfect opportunity for students and adults who’ve never participated in a 5K before to get out there and try it. To help, you can find a posting here in the Courier and in the ANCS Facebook group each week for the next 6 weeks with some activities you can do each week to go from never/rarely running to completing a 5K for RWTW. Below are activities for this week, you and your student are encouraged to get out for a little bit of movement a few days this week, enjoy the spring weather, and get ready for this year’s RWTW.
Training activities for week 1:
Day 1: Alternate running 1 minute and walking 1 minute for 30 total minutes.
Day 2: Alternate running 2 minutes and walking 4 minutes for 30 total minutes
Day 3: Alternate running 2 minutes and walking 4 minutes for 30 total minutes
As needed, take a rest day in between each of these activities or do some walking on the other days
