This year’s ANCS Run with the Wolves 5K and 1 mile races will be taking place virtually and you can log your time at any point between May 1 and May 16–check out the link for all the details.
With so much flexibility in when and where you run this year, it’s the perfect opportunity for students and adults who’ve never participated in a 5K before to get out there and try it. To help, you can find a posting here each Sunday for the 6 weeks leading up to the race window with some activities you can do to go from never/rarely running to completing a 5K for RWTW. Below are activities for this week, you and your student are encouraged to get out for a little bit of movement a few days this week, enjoy the spring weather, and get ready for this year’s RWTW.
Training activities for week 4:
– Day 1: Alternate running 8 minutes and walking 2 minutes for 30 total minutes
– Day 2: Alternate running 10 minutes and walking 2 minutes for 20 total minutes followed by running for 5 minutes
– Day 3: Alternate running 8 minutes and walking 2 minutes for 30 total minutes
– As needed, take a rest day in between each of these activities or do some walking on the other days
