A Message from PTCA Co-Presidents
With in-person school events resuming in full for the first uninterrupted year since 2018-19, this has been a busy time for the Parent, Teacher, Community Association (PTCA)! We hope you’ve been able to participate in PTCA events so far this year, including the Ice Cream social, Kickball Tournament, Fall Festival, Third Friday Coffees, and Farm, Food & Culture.
We need you!
The PTCA requires strong leadership on its Executive Committee to manage and oversee our activities throughout the year. For the 2023-24 school year, we are looking to fill several leadership positions on the Executive Committee, including the President’s role. Duties include attending regular monthly meetings, managing the PTCA budget, and serving as liaison for our various events and committees.
We are looking for both experienced parents and fresh faces! The PTCA events and committees have evolved over time, and we welcome new ideas and creative new ways of envisioning the Parent, Teacher, Community partnership at ANCS. Please consider whether a role on the Executive Committee might be a way for you to serve the ANCS community. To indicate your interest, please fill out this form by March 15.
The PTCA depends on strong parent volunteers for all of our beloved ANCS events and committees. In addition to events, the PTCA has also completed two grant award cycles this year, which funded several projects and enhancements, such as the Lunar New Year Celebration, lighting and sound equipment for the drama department, and pickleball courts & equipment at the Middle Campus. PTCA committees such as School Store, Related Arts, Loyalty programs, Room Parents, Yearbook, and Special Needs have been hard at work. This spring, we’re gearing up for Bingo Night (March 10), An Evening with DEAT: Black Excellence (March 14), Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week (March 27-31), Food, Farm & Culture (April 18), & Run With the Wolves (May 6), plus our monthly “Third Friday Coffees”.
Starting this school year, DE&I Co-Directors Cassie Leymarie and Humaira Afzal have partnered with the PTCA to provide additional staff support for our shared community building efforts. We are grateful for the many parents, faculty, and staff who make PTCA events and activities possible.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. Thank you for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Meeghan Fortson & Jenny Gunn
2022-23 PTCA Co-Presidents
P.S. Mark your calendars for our Spring Meeting & Family Picnic on May 9!
