AfterCare Academic Support

Elementary Campus

Academic support during AfterCare will begin at the elementary campus on October 11 and continue through December 17 for grades 1-5.   This first phase is designed to remediate students with grade level deficits. Students meeting any of the following criteria have been invited to commit to the program through the end of the semester:

  • Students in the early intervention program (EIP)
  • Students with an individualized education plan (IEP)
  • Students who earned a 2 or below on the end-of-year 2020-2021 report card in reading, writing or math
  • Students who scored below the 30th percentile on the fall Measure of Academic Progress, or MAP

These tutorials will run from 3:30 – 4:30 and cover reading/writing and math.

Middle Campus

The revised schedule gives middle campus students access to all of their teachers during Office Hours Monday through Thursday from 3:10 – 4:00. This will continue as the primary source of subject area support during AfterCare. We will be adding a specialized component with a focus on work completion and organization two days a week in AfterCare from 4:00 -5:00.   Participants in this program were selected with input from all faculty and the Dean of Academic Growth, and it will begin on October 11 and continue through December 17 for grades 6-8.

Please reach out to our Dean of Academic Growth Rhiannen Laurent (Rlaurent@atlncs.org) for more information or with questions.
