Celebrating Cultural Flavors
In honor of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, we delighted our students with a culinary tribute inspired by Claudia Roden’s “The Book of Jewish Food” last Friday. Our special menu showcased offerings such as falafel (crispy chickpea fritters), loubia (a flavorful Egyptian black-eyed pea stew), sweet honeyed carrot tzimmes, Israeli kugel (a delightful sweet noodle pudding), and a selection of apples and honey.
This upcoming Friday, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, our meal will feature tacos de carnitas (shredded pork) or tacos de chorizo y papas (vegetarian chorizo and potato), complemented by sides of black beans, shredded cabbage, radish, and a medley of salsas crafted from Ms. Paez’s cherished recipes.
