Enhancing Our Health/Safety Measures

We are adopting additional measures in light of the highly contagious nature of the Omicron variant. We will consider rescinding them when/if community transmission subsides:

Mask upgrades

  • Beginning January 18, we will require all students to wear surgical masks while in school. Cloth masks will no longer be an option, as research shows that they are less effective at limiting spread. We are working now to expand our supply of child-sized surgical masks, but we are also asking all parents/caregivers that are able to please supply their children with well-fitting surgical masks.
  • Masks will also become a requirement again during recess.
  • All teachers will be required to upgrade to KN95 masks. Teachers are welcome to provide their own, but we are working to secure enough for the entire faculty/staff.

Twice/weekly testing
In addition to Fridays, we have also added Tuesdays to our regular surveillance testing cadence. All employees and all students with consent of file will be tested on Tuesday and Friday mornings beginning Tuesday, January 18. If you would like to have your child participate in weekly surveillance testing and have not already returned a consent form, a link to a quick and easy virtual version is included here.
