Friday, August 6th was the first day of weekly COVID-19 surveillance testing at both campuses for students and faculty/staff. We tested 334 members of the school family across both campuses, and all results were negative. There were a few jitters among some of our younger students, but seeing their friends and teachers get tested helped a whole lot.
Faculty and staff are required to test every week – we can only test students with parents’ consent. We are hoping to get closer to our target of at least 50% student participation when Viral Solutions returns to test on Friday.
If you have not already returned a consent form, a link to a quick and easy virtual version is included here. You will only be notified of the result if it is positive.
Through surveillance testing, asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic individuals can be identified and immediately isolated thereby mitigating the spread of COVID-19. The more people that participate in the testing program, the greater the mitigation effect. The purpose of this program is to augment—not replace—other mitigation efforts such as social distancing, hand hygiene, adequate ventilation, and masking. Every student with parental consent will be tested every week. Participation in weekly surveillance testing will be required for any students participating in middle campus sports.
