Meet Mrs. Hinton
Dear ANCS Families,
It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the Coordinator of Community & Culture at Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School. My name is Alina Hinton, and ANCS has been an important part of my life since I joined this wonderful community in 2009. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching, learning, building relationships, and growing alongside our students, families, and staff. I am excited to continue that work in a role focused on strengthening the connections that make our community so special.
As a veteran educator, I am passionate about teaching health and fitness while helping young people develop lifelong habits that support their physical, social, and emotional well-being. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Psychology from Georgia Southwestern State University and a Master of Science in Human Services. My background also includes conflict resolution, peer education and mediation, as well as modern and lyrical dance. These experiences have shaped my belief that education extends far beyond academics—it is also about helping young people develop confidence, build relationships, understand themselves and others, and discover their place within a community.
Service has always been an important part of who I am. Beyond ANCS, I am an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., where I remain committed to serving and uplifting the community. As a lifelong Atlanta resident, wife, and mother, I understand the importance of having a strong village surrounding our children and families.
In my role as Coordinator of Community & Culture, my goal is to help strengthen that village at ANCS. Throughout the year, I will work alongside students, families, staff, and community partners to create opportunities that foster connection, belonging, celebration, service, and engagement. This includes supporting family and student affinity groups, cultural and heritage celebrations, community-building events, family engagement opportunities, student voice and leadership, and other initiatives that help every member of our community feel seen, heard, valued, and connected.
Most importantly, I want families to know that your voices and experiences matter. Community and culture are not created by one person—they are built through relationships and the collective contributions of all of us. I look forward to hearing your ideas, learning from your experiences, celebrating the many identities and traditions represented within ANCS, and finding meaningful ways for families to become involved.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in this capacity and look forward to connecting with you throughout the school year. Together, we can continue building an ANCS community where every student, every family, and every voice belongs.
With gratitude and excitement,
Alina Hinton
