New Partnership: Alliance Theatre
Collaborating with the larger community is an important element of our mission statement. We’re happy to announce that we have officially entered into a new partnership with the Alliance Theatre that we think will enhance the Neighborhood Charter experience for our families. This new partnership includes several impactful components:
Technical and artistic support for a school musical
-
We are excited about the return of a great Neighborhood Charter tradition: A spring musical at the middle campus. Beginning this current semester, students will have the opportunity to develop their skills through a series of audition prep workshops led by two trained Alliance Theatre teaching artists. Teaching artists will provide support for auditions, casting, and production in addition to filling the roles of assistant director, music director, and technical director for the rehearsal process and full-scale musical production. Jacob Dewey, our performing arts teacher, will be communicating information about the production, audition times, and student involvement in the next few weeks. The musical will be open to students from both campuses.
AfterCare acting workshops at the Elementary Campus in the spring semester
-
Beginning in January, students can work with a trained teaching artist to learn the tools of the actor and to build character, confidence, and creativity both on stage and beyond. All sessions will end with a final sharing for friends and family. Separate AfterCare workshops will be available for Grades K-2 and Grades 3-5.
Summer Drama Camps
-
Beginning in June, Neighborhood Charter will be a satellite location for Alliance Theatre summer camps for a variety of ages. They will be open to the broader community, and 20 camp scholarships will be provided for our students.
