Humaira Afzal

Humaira Afzal (transliteration) was born in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her primary and secondary schooling in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. While attending Georgia State University for her Bachelor’s of Science in Education, she was placed in Mrs. Nickey Hardon’s class as a resident teacher in the Fall of 2014 where she fell in love with ANCS. After graduation, she took on the role of mathematics instructor for sixth and seventh grades where she shared her love of algebra while bringing in mindfulness and meaningful local and global connections with the lens of race and equity. In 2019, Ms. Afzal graduated with her Master’s in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia.
In her current role, Ms. Afzal is committed to building a school environment where all members of the community feel seen, heard, and valued. She works to highlight the diverse stories and experiences of our students while supporting the goals of the school’s strategic mission.
Besides her important work with ANCS, Ms. Afzal spends most of her time with her large, close-knit family. Ms. Afzal is a globe trekker, book nerd, international epicure, multi-lingual, and a data purist.
